A well-established nursery in Bexhill-on-Sea is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Nursery Manager to join their leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate early years professional looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and child-focused environment.

The successful candidate will support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting, ensuring high standards of care, learning, safeguarding, and staff support are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Nursery Manager with the daily operations of the nursery
  • Leading by example and acting as a positive role model for staff and children
  • Ensuring safeguarding procedures and nursery policies are followed at all times
  • Supporting staff development, mentoring, and day-to-day supervision
  • Overseeing ratios, room organisation, and staff deployment across the setting
  • Supporting with observations, assessments, and learning journeys
  • Ensuring the EYFS curriculum is implemented effectively throughout the nursery
  • Supporting staff with planning engaging and age-appropriate learning opportunities
  • Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals
  • Supporting children with SEN and EAL using appropriate strategies and interventions
  • Monitoring standards within rooms, including learning environments and displays
  • Supporting with risk assessments, health & safety checks, and compliance procedures
  • Assisting with parent meetings, staff meetings, and nursery events
  • Promoting British Values and positive behaviour throughout the setting
  • Supporting the nursery team to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children
Requirements
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years
  • Previous experience within a nursery setting, ideally in a senior or leadership role
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and safeguarding practices
  • Confident leading and supporting a team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain high standards across the nursery
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
