Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience managing challenging behaviour, leading a team, and creating positive outcomes for students who have struggled in mainstream education?
We are recruiting for a Centre Manager to lead a well-established alternative provision supporting primary and secondary-aged students, including Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 learners. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a provision that focuses on rebuilding confidence, improving wellbeing, and helping young people re-engage with education in a supportive and nurturing environment.
About the Provision:
- Supports students who may be experiencing SEMH needs, anxiety and emotional difficulties, school avoidance or refusal, and challenging behaviour.
- Students learn in small groups, allowing staff to build strong relationships, identify underlying barriers to learning, and implement effective strategies that help young people succeed.
- Alongside core subjects such as English, Maths, Science, and PSHE, students take part in practical and engaging activities including cooking sessions, multi-sports activities, team-building exercises, and wellbeing-focused programmes.
- College and apprenticeship preparation for KS4 students.
The Role:
- Responsible for the day-to-day running of the provision, including leading and managing a small staff team.
- Creating a safe, positive, and structured learning environment.
- Running and supporting educational and enrichment sessions.
- Managing behaviour and implementing effective de-escalation strategies.
- Supporting students with SEMH needs and emotional regulation.
- Working closely with schools, families, and external professionals.
- Monitoring student progress, engagement, and wellbeing.
- Developing strategies to support students back into education and positive pathways.
- Supporting KS4 students with next steps, including college and apprenticeships.
- Promoting high standards of safeguarding and student welfare.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with young people with SEMH and additional needs.
- Has strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Has experience leading sessions, projects, or teams.
- Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
- Can build positive relationships with vulnerable young people.
- Is passionate about improving outcomes for students who have struggled in mainstream settings.
- Is energetic, proactive, and comfortable participating in sports and physical activities.
- Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
What Makes This Role Special?
- Well-established and supportive provision.
- Opportunity to genuinely change young people's lives.
- Small group sizes and meaningful relationship-based work.
- Active, engaging, and varied days.
- Early student finish, with students leaving at 2:30pm and staff typically finishing around 3:00pm.
- Temp-to-perm opportunity with long-term career prospects.
If you are an experienced SEMH professional looking for the next step in your career and want to lead a setting where relationships, wellbeing, and positive outcomes are at the heart of everything, we would love to hear from you.
