The Financial Crime Prevention Specialist plays a hands-on role in customer onboarding, transaction monitoring and ongoing compliance and risk reviews across the UK and EU. This is an opportunity for someone with strong execution skills and a proactive mindset to be a key part of core financial crime operations processes at a high-growth global cross-border payments business. You will collaborate with product, commercial and compliance teams to deliver high-quality outcomes and continuously improve how we operate.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Conduct end to end KYC/KYB reviews for new B2B customers across the UK and EU, including corporate structure analysis, UBO identification, sanctions and PEP screening, and risk assessment.
- Collect, verify and assess customer documentation in line with the company’s risk-based onboarding framework, ensuring all due diligence requirements are met before account activation.
- Perform enhanced due diligence on higher risk customers, documenting findings clearly and escalating where appropriate.
- Review and act on transaction monitoring alerts across PingPong’s full suite of payment services.
- Investigate potentially suspicious activity, conducting transaction analysis, documenting rationale and findings clearly.
- Prepare and submit SARs and related filings where required.
- Identify patterns and trends and emerging risks from alerts and elevate insights where appropriate.
- Support periodic review programme, ensuring customer risk profiles and documentation remain up to date.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve onboarding and monitoring workflows, proposing practical solutions and supporting implementation.
- Assist in developing and maintaining SOPs, templates and guidance materials for the financial crime operations function.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 2-4 years of experience in financial crime operations, KYC/KYB onboarding, transaction monitoring, or AML investigations at an EMI, payments company, bank or fintech.
- Solid working knowledge of UK and EU AML/CTF regulations.
- Hands-on experience conducting onboarding of B2B customers, including reviewing corporate structures, UBO identification and risk assessment.
- Experience reviewing transaction monitoring alerts and conducting investigations, with an understanding of common financial crime typologies.
- Sound knowledge of the financial services regulatory environment in EMEA.
- Proficiency with compliance tools, e.g. SumSub or similar.
- Strong attention to detail and clear logical thinking.
- Background in high-growth startup or scale-up environments strongly preferred.
- Comfortable using data to identify trends and support decision-making. Familiarity with Excel and basic data analysis is expected.
- Fluent written and spoken English is required. Proficiency in a European language or Mandarin is a bonus.
