We are scaling and looking for an Assistant Manager, Finance to support statutory reporting, regulatory compliance processes, and core finance operations across our UK and EU entities.

WHAT’S THE CHALLENGE

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong accounting fundamentals, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to take ownership of key deliverables in a fast-growing PSP environment. The role combines statutory accounts preparation exposure, regulatory reporting support, AP/AR oversight, VAT management, and involvement in cross-functional finance projects. You will work with a high degree of autonomy and will be expected to deliver accurate, high-quality work with only directional guidance.

WHO YOU’LL BE WORKING WITH

The role reports to the Finance Director. You’ll work closely with the wider Finance Operations Team (Close coordination on AP/AR workflows, reconciliation quality, and monthly close activities). You’ll also partner with Compliance on regulatory reporting and safeguarding activities, and with HR on VCC-related analysis. For projects and process improvements, you’ll interact with Product, Operations, and external auditors during statutory and VAT cycles.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Support preparation of PPUK & PPEU statutory financial statements, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS.
  • Execute and review balance sheet reconciliations and support development of strong financial controls.
  • Assist with preparing materials for PPUK Board financial reporting.
  • Help ensure year-end audit readiness and timely statutory filings.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting requirements for PPUK.
  • Support PPEU capital adequacy calculations and reporting.
  • Contribute to monthly safeguarding operations, ensuring compliance with PSP safeguarding obligations.
  • Take ownership of AP and AR processes, including invoice preparation, vendor management, and credit control.
  • Review and approve employee expense submissions in line with policy.
  • Prepare VAT returns for the UK and EU entities.
  • Maintain and update HR-related VCC (variable compensation cost) analysis.
  • Participate in and occasionally lead small to medium finance projects (e.g., system implementations, process improvements, automation initiatives).
  • Identify inefficiencies in accounting workflows and propose improvements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including Compliance, Product, and Operations as needed.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Solid experience in accounting or finance, ideally within fintech, PSPs, financial services, or high-growth environments.
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP/IFRS, especially revenue recognition.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting processes and flows, with a mindset geared toward efficiency and improvement.
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to structure work logically.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality output.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting, safeguarding, or PSP operations is a plus.
  • Part-qualified or qualified (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) preferred.

WHO YOU ARE

  • A proactive self-starter with a desire to learn and grow.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities in a scale-up environment.
  • Communicative, collaborative, and able to build strong working relationships.
  • Interested in improving systems, controls, and processes across the finance function.
