We are pleased to advertise an exciting opportunity for a Part-Time Medical Secretary to join our dedicated general practice team. This role is vital in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice by providing high-quality administrative and secretarial support. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider administrative team and contribute to delivering an efficient and patient-focused service. The position will be working alongside the On-call GP.
Responsibilities
- Providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support
- Accurately processing patient data in line with confidentiality, GDPR, and Data Protection regulations
- Managing patient referrals and processing both electronic and paper-based information in a timely manner
- Liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies, including secondary care and community service providers
- Supporting administrative and reception teams as required
- Undertaking SNOMED CT coding and ensuring accurate entry of information into patient electronic healthcare records in line with organisational policy
- Acting as an integral member of the general practice team
Qualifications
- A good standard of education, with an expectation of having both GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above, or Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English
- Experience of working with the general public
- Experience of administrative duties
- Excellent communication skills and effective in communicating and understanding patient needs
- Competent in the use of MS Office and Outlook
- Problem solver with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required
- Ability to use own initiative, discretion, and sensitivity
- Understanding of clinical coding
- Able to get along with people from all backgrounds and communities, respecting lifestyles and diversity
- Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
- Sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations
- Good organisational skills
- Clinical IT system user skills and the ability to record accurate notes
- Ability to effectively utilise resources
