Reporting to the Head of Group Facility Services, the Facility Services Supervisor – Maintenance organises and oversees the day to day running of the building and site fabric, including the planned & reactive maintenance and repairs at Pinewood Studios. This role is an exciting and challenging opportunity for someone with a strong background in general building maintenance, construction, carpentry and decorating works. The role requires someone who is highly skilled and capable of managing the upkeep and development of our world class production facilities and overseeing both In House Trade Teams and external contractors as required.
Principle Accountabilities
- Assist and supervise all reactive, planned and preventative maintenance tasks and small projects at Pinewood Studios to improve the function and safe operation of the facilities.
- Manage the in-house team’s daily workloads and output via C.A.F.M. system, including allocation and checking completed works are to internal stakeholder and client satisfaction.
- Specify, order and manage in-house staff materials for your relevant trade teams, including monitoring of expenditure and stock levels with accountability for associated budget lines.
- Assist the Head of Group Facility Services in gathering quotes and managing sub-contractors to undertake repairs, refurbishments and small project works in line with both company and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise all Maintenance employees’ and contractor workmanship, ensuring completion to expected standards prior to sign off in line with requirements.
- Ensure staff expectations and behaviours are met and both In House and Contractors comply with safe working practices and approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the tasks.
- Liaise and deal with requests and issues from clients and other departments in a professional and timely manner.
Nature and Scope
This opportunity would suit an established Facility Services Supervisor / Manager with a good technical knowledge base, combined with excellent organisational and people management skills. A solid track record of practical experience in Facility Management and Building Fabric Maintenance or similar is also essential. The job holder is required to take full accountability for the delivery of planned, reactive and remedial works of the teams within their remit. The job challenge is to deliver the maintenance of hard services within an ever changing, varied environment, to strict budgets and timescales. Management of communication with internal and external stakeholders is key to this role.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant qualifications relating to trades and systems which fall under their responsibility.
- Previous facilities management / building fabric engineering experience.
- A trade background, with relevant qualifications and sound working knowledge of trades and systems, both internal and external, which fall under their responsibility, including: Building fabric maintenance, repair and refurbishment; Carpentry; Decorating; General building / construction trades i.e. roofing, guttering, brickwork; Ground works / drainage; Small refurbishment projects; Vehicle fleet operation; and Industrial loading doors.
- Understanding and knowledge of business finance.
- Previous experience in team management in an industrial role managing a multi-discipline team.
- Experience in the use of MS Office and CAFM software is essential.
- Able to demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner and prioritise work effectively.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Able to communicate well with people across different disciplines and management levels.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Desire and ability to engage in continued professional development.
- Flexible, outgoing, friendly personality with a positive attitude for a ‘can do’ culture.
- Able to commute reliably to the office bases, based at Shepperton but able to commute to Pinewood as required.
- Able to work flexible hours should this be required.
Desirable Criteria
- Degree-level education in a technical discipline (facilities management, engineering / building services engineering preferred).
- Industrial or commercial industry experience and knowledge of sector.
- Commercial industry experience.
- Experience in managing Safe Systems of Work.
- A practical, flexible and innovative approach to work.
