Working within the Finance department, this role reports to the Senior Finance Manager and is responsible for the accurate and timely accounting and reporting of revenue and cost recognition, together with that of the associated balance sheet accounts. The successful candidate would be responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the UK and departmental profit and loss accounts and for delivering information timely to senior management. The Management Accountant is responsible for preparing accurate data, analysis, KPIs and information for inclusion in financial and management reports.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monthly accounting and reporting of revenue and cost recognition in the UK.
  • Accurate production of monthly UK management accounts by entity, department and location.
  • Promote the financial control environment, through the preparation and management of balance sheet reconciliations, for example accruals, prepayments, accrued and deferred income.
  • Support management and functional leads, by providing commentary and supporting schedules, as well as variance analysis.
  • Responsible for supporting the improvement of business system capability (i.e. interfaces from business systems to the finance system) in pursuit of automated finance processes, accuracy and to allow for a swift finance close process.
  • Support the Group budget process by meeting with functional leads, helping budget owners with the completion of the templates and accurately uploading to the finance systems.
  • Delivery of ad hoc reporting and analysis in support of external audits and corporate/financial projects.
  • Support the finance department as needed.

Skills and Experience

  • Degree level education or equivalent work experience
  • ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent
  • Experience of working within an accounting role of a multi-entity group
  • Experience preparing accurate and timely monthly management accounts
  • Excellent analysis of financial information
  • A strong understanding of the balance sheet and how the balance sheet interacts with the P&L
  • Exposure to Financial systems, namely Dynamics365 is preferred
  • Strong across all MS Office applications, with at least intermediate Excel skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Works effectively within a team
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical mindset
  • Ability and willingness to problem solve
