The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.
This role is a full-time, 7‑month fixed‑term contract starting from March to assist with maintaining and developing the estate during the summer months. The hours of work are Monday‑Friday between 0500‑1630, based at Pinewood Studios, Iver.
As a Gardener at Pinewood Studios, you’ll play a vital role in the range of horticultural projects across the estate in collaboration with the Head Gardener and Head of Cleaning + Grounds. You’ll be involved in maintaining and developing the green spaces across the estate. Your daily tasks will include general garden maintenance and upkeep, including planting, pruning, weeding, hedge cutting, watering, and preserving the health and appearance of plants and shrubs.
Principal accountabilities:- Work alongside the in‑house gardening team and follow the PPM schedule for seasonal maintenance of flower, shrub, woodland gardens, trees, hedges and undeveloped fields.
- Use and maintain gardening machinery including mowers, strimmers and trailers.
- Develop a working knowledge and broad familiarity with most plants and trees within the garden.
- Understand and encourage, where possible and appropriate, the diversity of wildlife within the gardens to ensure optimum care of the exceptional wild flora and fauna.
- Site‑wide weed, pest and disease control; appropriate, timely and safe use of pesticides as directed.
- Maintenance of herbaceous plantings, staking, dead heading, dividing, etc.
- Formative, seasonal and rejuvenation pruning of deciduous and evergreen trees, shrubs, climbers and hedges.
- Turf maintenance.
Most of the individual’s time is spent maintaining the gardens and related estate. Planning horizons are relatively short, possibly up to a month for more complex work and projects which will be completed with support from the Projects and Operations team and external contractors. Health and safety awareness and adherence are essential for this role, particularly in relation to technical machinery and tractors. Specialist knowledge of general horticulture is also needed. The individual will be mostly autonomous but will follow direction from the Head of Cleaning + Grounds and Head Gardener.
Skills and Experience:- Essential criteria:
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Use of horticultural and lawn machinery.
- Awareness of Health and Safety (specialist training will be provided).
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Reliable, tolerant, determined and flexible.
- Comfortable working alone in all weather conditions.
- PA1 + PA6.
- Tractor driving experience.
- Field cultivation experience.
