- General Manager
- Sheffield | £55,000–£65,000 + up to 10% performance bonus
Pine Media is a growing UK fibre ISP and managed services business.
We are looking for a hands-on General Manager to be the CEO’s operational number two and lead the day-to-day running of our Sheffield-based business.
This is a practical SME leadership role, not a corporate GM post.
With a team of around 15 people, you will be close to the work: creating a strong management rhythm, solving cross-team issues, and ensuring customers and projects are delivered well.
Technical leads retain ownership of technical standards and methods; you make sure people, priorities and delivery are aligned.
- What you’ll do
- Lead and develop people across the business, including regular 1:1s, development, absence and performance management.
- Set operational KPIs, review performance and hold teams accountable for results.
- Oversee operational delivery across customer orders, installations, fault resolution and projects, ensuring delivery is safe, on time and within budget.
- Plan resources, resolve blockers and improve ways of working across customer service, service delivery, field operations and technical teams.
- Manage operational cost, support recruitment and onboarding, and provide concise reporting on performance, risks and priorities to the CEO.
- Maintain effective health-and-safety oversight across operational teams.
You will work with experienced technical specialists and team leads.
You do not need to be the deepest technical expert, but you must be confident managing technical people and making clear, timely decisions.
Requirements
You will genuinely enjoy managing people and be confident addressing underperformance promptly and fairly, including having difficult conversations.
You will likely have held a General Manager, Head of Operations, Operations Manager or similar role in a growing SME, operational or service-led business.
We are looking for someone who is
- Organised, data-aware and decisive, with a calm, practical approach.
- Strong at turning priorities into an accountable delivery plan.
- Comfortable leading a mix of office-based, field and technical specialists.
- Commercially aware, with experience of resource planning and cost control.
- Able to balance supporting people with holding them to high standards.
Experience in telecoms, fibre, managed services or another technical service environment would be useful, but is not essential.
