The Group HSE Manager is responsible for promoting a positive HSE culture through proactive engagement of all employees and providing professional and practical advice and support to the Senior Leadership Team on all aspects of HSE management. They will lead and develop all safety production activities while driving improvements within agreed safety, cost, quality, and timescale criteria, to optimize the use of all assets. They must ensure the siteβs compliance with all relevant Legislative Health & Safety requirements within the working environment and fully own Risk Assessments and overall quality of the safety output.
About the Role
- Ensure a safe workplace environment, identifying potential hazards and determining ways of reducing risks.
- Ensure that all Environmental, and Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated, and communicated.
- Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new, and upcoming Health and Safety and Environmental legislation and provide support in communicating relevant changes to the business.
- Identify and present business case proposals for projects and initiatives related to health and safety/compliance.
- Liaise with the Engineering and Operations Team, to ensure consistency of approach to Health and Safety across the business.
- Ensure that all accidents, near miss incidents and cases of ill health are fully investigated and documented including implementation of any recommendations and improvement actions.
- Keep all necessary records, including health and safety and training records, which demonstrate that the business is fully compliant.
- Prepare and present accurate reports as and when required including monthly H&S compliance report and RIDDOR data.
- Design and deliver training sessions on key areas of H&S activities in relation to Health, Safety and Environmental including toolbox talks and coaching the supervisory team.
- Effectively coordinate Health, Safety & Environmental activities for the site/company ensuring that all agreed targets and activities are achieved in a timely manner.
- Lead, develop and implement sustainable HS&E management programmes and provide the strategic architecture for HS&E that will ensure statutory compliance is maintained.
- Help prepare HSE induction paperwork for new starters (and other such administration linking QHSE and Human Resources).
- Undertake all forms of risk assessments as and when required within the business.
- Conduct internal audits and assist with any external audits as and when required.
- Assist in booking training courses and monitoring training certification expiry dates.
Qualifications
- Minimum of NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management, and ideally Chartered Membership of IOSH.
- A proven track record within a fast-changing manufacturing work environment.
- Experience of working with Duty Holder Register and specifically DSEAR; PUWER, COSHH, LOLER, Fire Risk Assessment, Workplace Air Monitoring, Noise, Manual Handling.
- Proven ability to design and conduct H&S based training for groups of people.
- Proven experience of tactical deployment against company strategy.
- Proven experience in developing (and maintaining) leading metrics and driving associated culture change.
- Proven experience of positive engagement in HS&E arena / HS&E change management.
- Strong ability to quickly grasp and understand business specific H&S risks and provide recommendations for appropriate solutions to mitigate those risks.
- Quality assurance experience, both creating and helping keep the accreditation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs.
- Evidence of accident prevention programme implementation.
