Senior HSE Manager Location: Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire Employment Type: Permanent An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior HSE Manager to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing organisation operating within a technically complex, safety-critical environment. This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for setting the strategic direction for Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance across the business. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of HSE management systems, ensure compliance with relevant legislation and international standards, and work closely with senior operational leaders to drive a proactive and positive safety culture. The role would suit an established HSE professional with significant experience gained within engineering, manufacturing, energy, offshore, oil & gas or another complex industrial environment. The Role As Senior HSE Manager, you will: * Develop and implement the company's HSE strategy in line with wider business objectives. * Establish annual HSE objectives, KPIs and continuous improvement plans. * Lead and continually improve Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems. * Maintain compliance with ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems. * Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation and regulatory requirements. * Monitor legislative changes and ensure appropriate controls and processes are implemented. * Lead HSE audits, regulatory inspections and external certification assessments. * Develop and maintain effective risk management, hazard identification and risk assessment processes. * Review significant operational and project risks and ensure suitable mitigation measures are implemented. * Oversee incident investigations, near-miss investigations and root cause analysis, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are completed. * Lead emergency preparedness and business continuity activities. * Manage, coach and develop the HSE team while building HSE capability across the wider organisation. * Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, operations and project teams to embed HSE requirements into day-to-day activities. * Provide oversight of contractor management and supplier HSE performance * Develop HSE performance measures and provide clear reporting on trends, risks and improvement opportunities. * Drive corrective and preventative actions resulting from audits, inspections and performance reviews. * Lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, carbon reduction and environmental improvement programmes. The Person You will be an experienced HSE leader with a strong track record of managing health, safety and environmental performance within a complex operational environment. Essential requirements include: Minimum 10 years' HSE experience. Minimum 5 years' experience within a senior HSE leadership role. Experience within manufacturing, engineering, energy, offshore, oil & gas or industrial environments. NEBOSH General Certificate and environmental management qualification. Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001. Experience developing and implementing HSE management systems. Proven experience driving safety culture and behavioural improvement programmes. Strong knowledge of risk assessments, safe systems of work and permit processes. Experience of incident investigation and root cause analysis. Experience managing regulatory inspections, certification audits and assurance programmes. Knowledge of contractor HSE management and emergency response planning. Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring capability. Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills. Ability to challenge and influence effectively at senior and executive level. Strong commercial awareness and decision-making skills. Desirable Qualifications NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and/or Environmental Management. Degree/BSc in Environmental, Health & Safety Management or a related discipline. ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification. ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification. Project management qualification
