Are you an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer looking to move beyond day-to-day development and into a role where you can influence architecture, direct engineering activities and guide technical decision-making? We are seeking a senior engineer with a strong background in embedded systems, electronics and product development to provide technical leadership across a complex engineering programme. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external engineering partners, you will review designs, challenge technical decisions, solve engineering problems and help guide products from concept through to manufacture. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who still enjoys the technical detail but wants to have a broader impact on product development and engineering delivery.

The Role

  • You will act as a senior technical contributor across embedded hardware, electronics and software development activities.
  • Working at system level, you will collaborate with engineering teams and external development partners to ensure solutions are technically robust, manufacturable and aligned with project objectives.
  • You will influence technical direction, participate in design reviews, assess risks and help resolve complex technical challenges throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across embedded systems and electronics development activities.
  • Review and challenge hardware, firmware and system-level designs.
  • Influence architecture and technical decision-making.
  • Support system integration and product development activities.
  • Work closely with external engineering partners and suppliers.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and project risks.
  • Support verification, validation and design review activities.
  • Ensure solutions are suitable for manufacture and production.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality and manufacturing teams.

About You

You will have a strong background in embedded systems development and a desire to take ownership of broader technical decisions and engineering outcomes. You may currently be working as a: Lead Embedded Engineer, Principal Embedded Engineer, Senior Embedded Software Engineer, Senior Electronics Engineer, Embedded Systems Engineer, Technical Lead, Firmware Team Lead, Principal Engineer.

Experience in several of the following areas would be beneficial: Embedded Systems, Embedded Software Development, C and C++, Electronics Design, Hardware Development, Microcontrollers, Product Development, Systems Engineering, Technical Leadership, Design Reviews, Verification & Validation, Supplier Collaboration. Experience gained within regulated or highly structured engineering environments would be advantageous, although candidates from a broad range of engineering sectors will be considered.
