PIMCO’s Alternatives Platform
PIMCO has developed a broad and robust alternatives platform over the past 15 years, with more than $200bn in AUM today. PIMCO has incorporated alternatives-specific talent and resources into the firm’s disciplined investment process and institutional infrastructure, which supports $2trn of AUM in total. PIMCO offers a diverse set of hedge fund, quantitative, alternative credit, private credit and real estate strategies that emanate from core PIMCO capabilities across credit, global macro, commodities, volatility and real estate.
A key and well-established pillar of PIMCO’s business has been the Product Strategy group that sits between Portfolio Management and Account Management. The role of the Product Strategy group spans product development, structuring, distribution strategy, marketing, sales and investors reporting. The Alternative Strategy group performs this role exclusively for PIMCO’s alternative investment strategies. The London team, which has been in place for more than 10 years, is fully integrated into the global team, and has geographic responsibility for developing and supporting the alternatives business in EMEA, spanning the full set of alternatives strategies.
PIMCO is seeking an Analyst/Associate to join its EMEA Alternatives Product Strategy team in London.
Main responsibilities:
Serve as product expert internally (and as appropriate, externally) for PIMCO alternative strategies, including private credit funds and real estate funds.
Support product strategists in EMEA business development and client service efforts, utilizing the firm’s internal resources to respond to client, prospective client, and consultant inquiries in a timely manner. Assist in the resolution of related operational/trade matters.
Perform detailed portfolio research and quantitative analysis with Excel, Bloomberg, and database applications, for example.
Support EMEA alternatives business management activities, including development and execution of business plans by country, maintaining investor pipelines and developing product marketing plans.
Conduct industry and competitor research to support product development activities.
Provide performance attribution analysis and write market and strategy commentary for investor newsletters. Develop and maintain marketing and client reporting materials.
Build internal relationships and partnerships with portfolio managers, account managers, account associates and marketing, communications, and compliance professionals.
Position Requirements:
Prior knowledge of alternatives including private credit, real estate and hedge funds is preferred.
Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, along with strong time management.
Effective communication skills is essential given the frequent level of internal and client contact.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency with Bloomberg. Experience with VBA and/or Python is a plus.
Sharp focus on details with an awareness of the bigger picture. Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects in an organized fashion.
University degree with a major in Business/Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or applied science.
CFA designation or active status in the CFA program is a plus.
