We're looking for a proactive and experienced Assistant Site Manager to support the delivery of high‐quality void refurbishment and planned works within the social housing sector. The role will be based at our Hemel Hempstead office, with regular travel to sites across London.
You'll support the Site Manager in ensuring works are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards – while maintaining excellent communication with residents and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Support the day‐to‐day management of void refurbishment and planned works.
- Assist with pre‐ and post‐inspections to ensure works are completed "right first time."
- Coordinate subcontractors and operatives, ensuring productivity and quality on site.
- Maintain site safety by conducting basic checks and promoting safe working practices.
- Prepare daily snagging lists and assist with handovers.
- Help manage materials, including ordering and maintaining stock levels.
- Maintain accurate site records, including photos, updates, and paperwork.
- Liaise with residents, housing officers, and internal teams to provide progress updates.
- Carry out lock changes, post‐contractor checks, and manage property documentation.
- Support the Site Manager in identifying issues, delays, or variations in scope.
- Proven experience as an Assistant Site Manager or similar role within social housing refurbishment.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, voids processes, and common defects.
- Good problem‐solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- A genuine interest in resident care, with the ability to motivate and support on‐site teams.
- Confident using tablets and Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) for reporting and documentation.
- Customer‐focused with excellent communication and writing skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- Asbestos Awareness Certificate.
- First Aid at Work.
- CSCS card.
- Fire Marshal / Safety Certificate.
