We are looking for an experienced, confident and highly organised

Reception & Reservations Manager to lead our reception and reservations function.

Located within the stunning Grade II listed Pillar Hall, our restaurant

Idalia celebrates exceptional British produce, delivered with outstanding service and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with a warm and professional approach, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a genuine passion for hospitality.

As the person responsible for our reception and reservations operation, you will play a key role in ensuring an exceptional guest journey from the initial enquiry and booking through to arrival and departure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and support the reception and reservations, ensuring consistently high standards of guest service.
  • Oversee the day-to-day reception and reservations operation.
  • Provide a warm, professional and friendly welcome to all guests.
  • Maintain a strong presence at reception during peak service periods, supporting the team and engaging with guests.
  • Manage reservations, table allocations, booking confirmations, cancellations and waitlists efficiently.
  • Oversee all booking channels, including telephone, email and online reservation platforms.
  • Manage group bookings, VIP guests, special occasions and individual guest requests, coordinating closely with the wider team.
  • Optimise table allocations and reservation availability to support smooth service and maximise restaurant capacity.
  • Work closely with restaurant management, events and other operational teams to ensure a seamless guest journey.
  • Recruit, train, develop and supervise reception team members.
  • Maintain accurate guest profiles, reservation records and booking information.
  • Handle guest enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally and effectively.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of the restaurant, menus, events and wider Pillar Hall offering.
  • Ensure guest information is handled appropriately and in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant reservation reports and communicate key booking information to management and operational teams.

Receptionist or similar supervisory role within a high-quality restaurant or hospitality environment.

  • Minimum

2 years' experience within reception or reservations, ideally including team management responsibilities.

  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail.
  • Experience using restaurant reservation systems;

Open Table experience is highly desirable .

  • Confident managing busy reservation books, table plans and high volumes of guest enquiries.
  • A professional, personable and guest-focused approach.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, organised and positive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good understanding of GDPR and appropriate handling of guest information.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
