We are currently recruiting for a Specification Technologist to provide skilled technical support by writing, approving, and maintaining accurate finished product specifications within the required timeframes. This includes ensuring information is consistent with source data (e.g., raw material data, factory recipes/specs) and compliant with customer requirements, relevant legislation, and group policy.
The role also involves ensuring the timely creation and approval of accurate, right-first-time product pack copies and artwork in accordance with customer requirements, relevant legislation, and group policy.
Responsibilities:
- Approve and maintain finished product specifications for all supplied products, including:
- Completing specifications according to customer protocols, ensuring data accuracy, validity, and compliance with customer requirements, legislation, and group policy
- Estimating meat content by theoretical methods (QUID) and laboratory analyses.
- Calculating and generating ingredient declarations in required customer formats.
- Ensuring all data and claims linked to product specifications are supported and validated against customer requirements, legislation, group policy, or third-party protocols (e.g., RSPO, Vegan Society).
- Receiving, evaluating, and acting on requests to amend/update specifications, ensuring effective communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Generate legal pack copy of technical information for product packaging (primary and secondary), ensuring compliance.
- Upload approved cutter profiles onto customer portals.
- Manage artwork approval for primary and secondary packaging, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance.
- Update Recipe Professor with analytical nutrition data matching artwork.
- Ensure all supporting documentation (e.g., cooking validations, nutrition results, certificates) is completed and linked to specifications.
- Maintain up-to-date customer and legal requirements across portals.
- Respond to customer queries regarding specifications.
- Present product specifications during customer visits/audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Support other departments to understand customer requirements.
- Collaborate with product development and supply chain teams to meet timescales.
- Stay informed about process changes affecting specifications.
- Experience in writing product specifications or relevant technical/NPD experience within Pilgrims Europe.
- Experience using retail customer portals/web systems.
- Knowledge of food legislation.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and computer systems.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
- Highly organized, methodical, able to prioritize, and adaptable.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work under strict deadlines.
- Self-motivated, assertive, and proactive.
- Team player with confidence to work independently.
