My job

One of the key objectives of Pilgrim’s Shared Services Ltd is to provide valued added expertise in financial and tax reporting services to other Business Units in the group. The purpose of the role will be to;

  • To provide accurate and timely financial & tax information to key stakeholders. These will include the Senior Managers RTR, Head of Financial Services, Direct Tax Lead and other teams within Financial Services and the wider business.
  • Operating within the Tax & RTR stream, the Accountant will support closely with the Direct Tax Lead in declarations and tax position of the business unit(s) and subsequent reporting.
  • The Accountant will have excellent ERP & IT skills and be able to leverage on these to deliver solutions to issues arising, deliver continuous systems improvement in collaboration with other departments.
  • This role is an interesting and diverse role and will suit someone who is flexible and adept at problem solving.
  • Ensuring consistency of accounting policy and Sox controls across the European businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Direct Tax Finance Lead this role will be working as part of a team producing tax & financial reporting for several business units.
  • Outputs will include periodic reporting to HMRC/Revenue.
  • Input into relevant areas of monthly, quarterly and annual financial information and associated reporting to Pilgrims US.
  • Complete all reporting in line with established group and HMRC/Revenue timetables.
  • Deliver key balance sheet account reconciliations which will feed into the overall entity reconciliations.
  • Complete relevant areas in relation to periodic tax postings and statutory accounting.
  • Work with other members of the finance team to ensure consistency of working across the business units and to ensure best practice is implemented and followed.
  • Work on cross-functional projects where required providing expert guidance from a financial and tax viewpoint.
  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CTA with a minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience, or qualified by experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Experience in preparing/reviewing corporation tax computations.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with stakeholders including Senior BU finance staff.
