Ready to take the next step in your technical career?

We're looking for an ambitious Technical Coordinator to join our growing technical team at Pilgrim Foodservice.

This is more than a traditional technical role.

You'll work directly alongside the Technical Manager, playing a key part in leading food safety, driving continuous improvement and maintaining the high standards expected, working closely with our operations, manufacturing and procurement teams.

You'll also deputise for the Technical Manager when required, giving you genuine exposure to leadership and decision-making.

About the Role

As Technical Coordinator, you'll support the management of our Quality Management System whilst helping ensure compliance with BRCGS Storage & Distribution, SALSA and relevant food legislation.

This is primarily an office-based role where you'll work closely with our Operations, Manufacturing and Procurement teams to coordinate and support the technical function across the business.

The role involves analysing technical data, monitoring trends, maintaining compliance systems, investigating issues and building strong working relationships across departments.

Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll provide technical guidance, influence best practice and help embed a positive food safety culture throughout the business.

Regular travel to our cross-docking depots will also be required to carry out audits and support compliance activities, including occasional overnight stays.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Supporting the Technical Manager and deputising when required, helping to ensure the effective delivery of the technical function across the business.
  • Driving food safety, quality and compliance standards, ensuring HACCP, QMS, BRCGS, SALSA and legislative requirements are maintained.
  • Managing technical assurance activities, including supplier approval, product information, specifications, testing programmes and compliance records.
  • Leading audit and improvement activities, including internal audits, corrective actions, technical KPI reporting and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Providing technical support across the business, working with Operations, Manufacturing and Procurement teams to resolve issues and maintain standards.
  • Building a positive food safety culture, through communication, coaching, collaboration and promoting best practice.

About You

You're someone who enjoys working with people as much as processes.

You build strong relationships across the business, using your technical knowledge to coach others, drive improvements and help create a positive food safety culture.

You take pride in keeping the business audit-ready while using data and insight to make informed decisions.

Ideally you will have

  • Experience within a food technical role, ideally within food manufacturing, delivered wholesale or a similar area of the food industry.

We’re looking for someone who is keen to develop their skills, broaden their experience and play an important role in supporting the continued growth of the business.

  • Level 3 HACCP and Level 3 Food Safety qualification, with a strong understanding of food safety management systems and legal compliance, including experience in monitoring and implementing changes to legislation and industry standards.
  • Experience leading and supporting audits, investigations and continuous improvement activities, with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, determine root causes, implement corrective actions and influence positive change across multiple departments.
  • Highly organised and proactive, with the ability to manage workloads effectively, meet deadlines and make balanced technical decisions with commercial awareness.
  • Experience working with technical systems, including quality management systems, product specifications and compliance documentation.
  • Experience with packaging waste compliance, including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), would be advantageous.
  • A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel to our cross-docking depots, including occasional overnight stays where required.

Why join Pilgrim Foodservice?

  • Monday to Friday working pattern.
  • Above statutory holiday entitlement.
  • Christmas loyalty reward.
  • Refer a Friend bonus.

If you are looking for a varied technical role where you can make a real impact on food safety, quality and compliance, we would love to hear from you.
