A Hygiene Operative in our factory plays a vital role in keeping the production environment clean, safe, and fully compliant with food safety standards. This position is essential to ensuring that all products meet strict hygiene regulations and that the factory operates efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Deep clean factory areas and equipment: carry out thorough cleaning of production rooms, walls, floors, drains, work surfaces, and high-level areas to prevent contamination.
- Clean production machinery: dismantle, clean, and reassemble machines used in chicken processing, removing debris, sanitising parts, and ensuring all equipment is safe for the next production shift.
- Use hoses and pressure washing equipment: operate industrial hoses and pressure washers to clean floors, conveyors, crates, and machinery effectively.
- Work at height: safely climb ladders to clean overhead pipes, vents, and hard-to-reach areas, following all health and safety guidelines.
- Handle cleaning chemicals safely: use approved cleaning agents and disinfectants correctly and responsibly, following COSHH and safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain hygiene and food safety standards: help ensure the factory meets strict food hygiene regulations, preventing cross-contamination and maintaining audit-ready standards.
- Report faults or maintenance issues: identify and promptly report damaged equipment, leaks, blocked drains, or safety hazards to supervisors.
- Support production efficiency: work efficiently to complete cleaning schedules on time so production can restart safely without delays.
- Follow health & safety procedures: wear appropriate PPE (protective clothing, gloves, boots, eye protection) and follow all company safety policies.

- B Shift: Tue‑Fri 22:00-06:00, Sat 18:00-02:00
- C Shift: Fri & Mon 20:00-06:00, Sat & Sun 17:00-03:00, Start same week
