Kitchen Assistant - Part Time in Worthing

We currently have an opportunity for an energetic individual to join our Ancillary Staff Team in our residential care home for older people as a Housekeeper based in Worthing, West Sussex. Our Ancillary Team are instrumental to the upkeep of resident rooms and shared spaces and pride themselves on going the extra mile to provide an excellent service for everybody in the home. Our amazing team at Koinonia Christian Care Home provide a loving and caring environment for our residents, whilst maintaining the Christian ethos that is so important to them. The health, well-being and happiness of our residents are of primary importance to us.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of nutritionally balanced and attractive meals with due regard to resident preferences and special dietary needs.
• Observe food hygiene regulations.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic working environment; tidy communal areas, wash, dry and store all crockery, cutlery and utensils.
• Maintain the kitchen, catering equipment and food storage rooms in a high state of cleanliness and tidiness.
• Maintain all records and control stock rotation when on duty.
• Work as part of a team and be willing to take on any task, within your capabilities, to provide an excellent service to our residents.
• Attend meetings and training activities as required.
• Clean client rooms and common areas; help to keep the home hygienic, fresh and tidy.
• Liaise with the Manager on cleaning schedules and cleaning material stock control.
• Fold items correctly, distribute residents' clothing and store linen and household items safely.
• Maintain the Laundry and linen stores in a safe, clean, tidy condition.
• Maintain the general cleanliness of the kitchen and catering equipment.
• Ensure all water and other spillages are cleaned up immediately after they occur.

About you:

• You need to be someone who enjoys working with older people and can have empathy with them.
• You must enjoy cooking and be able to cook and prepare food to a good standard.
• You should have a basic food hygiene certificate and a food-related qualification (this would be an advantage but is not essential).
• You need to be able to work as part of a team in order to provide an excellent service to our residents.
• You need to be a well-organised, practical and adaptable person.
• You do not necessarily have to have experience, although experience is an advantage, as long as you are caring and sensitive to the needs of others.
• We can give you the training you need as long as you have the willingness and dedication to learn.

Hours:

Week 1: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday (24 hour working week)
Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday (32 hour working week)
Shifts: 06:30am -14:30 Bank shifts available (to ensure cover for absence, sickness, holidays and relief).
