Shunter Driver to join our dynamic team in Westerleigh, Bristol, BS37 8QZ.

Shunter Driver
Working Hours
05:00am - 13:30pm, Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
The work will be shunting outdoors within the premises of our site, where you will be responsible for on-site trailer movements from the trailer park onto the loading bay and safely back to the trailer park area, ensuring it is completed in a safe and timely manner to keep the Operations teams running effectively.
Shunting will be on a Terberg unit.
Main duties will include but are not limited to
- Conducting daily tug/trailers inspections, immediately reporting any defects and/or damage to the supervisor/manager, and completing associated documentation in line with the company policy
- Checking if tug/trailers are correctly fuelled and refuelling when required.
- Conduct frequent temperature monitoring of all loaded refrigeration units
- Liaising with the despatch, yard, dolav wash, and goods in staff to ensure smooth and efficient loading/unloading of trailers
- Manage HGV traffic efficiently and coordinate the movements
- Keeping loading bays and the area around the despatch in clean/tidy condition
- Always keep the tug clean
- Observing and adhering to company rules, site procedures, and all aspects of Health & Safety and Hygiene at all times
- Any other duties as and when required relevant to the department
- The Ideal Candidate
- Previous shunting or lorry experience is essential
- Can work efficiently within a fast-paced and pressured environment and move trailers around a very tight yard to ensure the yard and despatch operation runs as smoothly as possible.
- Ability to communicate effectively with drivers and colleagues.
- Able to complete documentation accurately and on time.
- Flexibility with Working Hours and ability to work weekends when required.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and extremely reliable.
- Work to a high standard when unsupervised and as part of a team.
- Have a high level of Health and Safety Awareness. Ability to prioritise workload
