About the Role: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Specifications Officer to lead the creation and maintenance of customer specifications and product information for legal labeling and packaging across retail and wholesale markets. This role also involves managing a Specification Technologist to ensure timely and accurate delivery of specifications and compliance with legal and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the creation and maintenance of customer specifications for new products.
- Ensure specifications are updated for EPD, supplier-led amendments, and legal/customer changes.
- Review and maintain specifications to meet BRC and customer-specific requirements.
- Oversee translation and artwork approval processes, ensuring compliance with legal and customer standards.
- Stay informed on changes in legal labeling requirements across markets, utilizing third-party approvals where necessary.
- Handle customer communication regarding specifications and respond to related queries and questionnaires.
- Attend internal and external audits as required.
- Support the development of written procedures and work instructions for the specifications department.
- Manage and develop the Specification Technologist through on-the-job learning and formal training.
- Attend development meetings to anticipate workload and allocate resources effectively.
- Promote health, safety, and wellbeing in line with company policies.
- Drive continuous improvement and support change initiatives within your area of responsibility.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experience with online customer specification systems.
- Knowledge of Food Hygiene, HACCP, and BRC Standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills across cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated, organized, and assertive with excellent attention to detail.
- Customer contact experience and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Windows; working knowledge of PowerPoint and Internet.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of food legislation.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Experience with retail and QSR specification systems.
- People management experience.
