Quality Technologist (15-Month Fixed Term Contract)

Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 7.30 - 16.00 Friday 7:30-15:00
Are you passionate about food safety, quality, and continuous improvement? We're looking for a Quality Technologist to join our Technical team on a 15-month fixed-term contract, helping to ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality, and customer compliance across our manufacturing operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced quality professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams, leading investigations, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide technical support and guidance to production teams to ensure food safety, quality standards, and customer requirements are consistently achieved.
- Support customer, third-party, and internal audits, ensuring information is provided accurately and corrective actions are completed on time.
- Champion a positive food safety and quality culture across site.
- Drive compliance against food safety and quality standards through audits, inspections, and factory walks.
- Manage supplier complaints and non-conformances, working with suppliers to drive improvements.
- Lead investigations into quality and food safety issues, identifying root causes and implementing preventative actions.
- Support production trials and product launches to ensure products meet food safety and quality requirements.
- Deliver technical training, including HACCP, food hygiene, and allergen awareness.
- Support traceability exercises, mock recalls, and validation activities.
- Use data and problem-solving tools to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Essential
What We're Looking For
- Qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- HACCP and Food Safety Level 3 certification.
- Experience within a Technical or Quality role in a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of BRCGS standards and food industry regulations.
- Experience supporting or leading third-party, customer, or regulatory audits.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and investigative skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to write reports, risk assessments, and technical documentation.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience with 8-Step Problem Solving methodologies.
- Knowledge of Operational Excellence (OPEX) tools and continuous improvement techniques.
- Experience managing supplier quality issues and supplier performance reviews.
