Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Farm Manager to join our team at our newly developed indoor Farm in Berwickshire, a company owned newly developed indoor breeder farm site, dedicated to promoting pig farming best practice.
Responsibilities
- Day‑to‑day responsibility for the running of the farm and its staff to ensure the highest standards of welfare.
- Support the Multiplication Farm Manager to ensure all areas of the breeder unit meet business requirements.
- Run the farm as a safe, welcoming and supportive space, maintaining healthy working relationships with peers and line management.
- Raise high‑health piglets, providing gilts and sows the best possible treatment.
- Ensure all targets are met and maintained, working within an Operational Excellence model and taking a commercial view of running the site.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date data/KPI records, pig production costs and complete all relevant company training.
- Carry out manual work on the farm including feeding, moving and handling of pigs.
- Manage and monitor health, welfare and biosecurity of the herd in conjunction with the BQP veterinary team and Breeder Farm Manager, overseeing vaccination programmes.
- Ensure all health, safety and hygiene processes are adhered to.
Qualifications
- Experience in a similar role.
- Exceptional pig knowledge and excellent understanding of pig welfare.
- Experience managing a team.
- Full driver’s licence.
- IT literate and capable of maintaining data/KPI records.
