As a dynamic and energetic Hygiene Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading the team to deliver the required hygiene standards for the area, with a key focus on team member safety, product safety and process optimisation, providing daily support and coaching to all team members.

Key Accountabilities

  • Safety is a condition: Build a culture of safety within the area of responsibility.
  • Safety checks and risk assessments: Ensure that all activities have formal risk assessments and corrective actions have been completed as a priority.
  • Go for Zero: Embrace promoting positive behaviours, root cause analysis of near misses, and coaching team members to work safely.
  • Training: Ensure that all team members have the appropriate training to do their required tasks in a safe manner.
  • Safety checks: Complete all safety checks at the appropriate frequencies, and ensure the environment is as safe as possible for all team members to work in.

Hygiene Strategy

  • Fully support the activities defined within the hygiene master schedule for the area, maintaining a key focus on the metrics of the area.
  • Drive new technology and methodologies to continuously improve hygiene standards.
  • Work cross functionally and build relationships to maximise performance, especially between day shift and night shift.
  • Ensure that each team member understands their role in delivering business goals and build a high performing team.
  • Build strong relationships with each team member.
  • Minimise absenteeism and organise unplanned cover when required, taking steps to minimise cost.
  • Train the team on OPEX tools, systems and standards and track team member capability using versatility matrices.
  • Involve the team in priority problem solving activities and promote a culture of learning and development.
  • Communicate regularly and ensure goals and manufacturing targets are clear through team forums and MySuccess.
  • Ensure team members are working to their strengths and use problem solving to remove obstacles.
  • Reward both successes and ideal behaviours; address any performance issues promptly and discretely.

OPEX Improvement

  • Collect and analyse hygiene performance data to drive improvement plans.
  • Improve key metrics for the hygiene teams and drive 3C problem solving activity.
  • Standardise hygiene work through 5S, Work Element Sheets, Standard Operating Procedures and other standards; conduct hygiene confirmation checks to ensure standards are met and deliver value for the business and customer.
  • Use visual management to communicate performance issues and corrective actions to the team.
  • Ensure handovers are completed efficiently between shifts and that poor hygiene standards are not passed to the next shift.
  • Complete all documentation for safety, quality, operations, environmental and asset management as required by systems and customers.

Skills And Knowledge

  • Proficient written, numerical, and verbal skills.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written).
  • Ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data.
  • Experience in managing a hygiene operation.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Team management experience.
  • Proficient with MS Office tools.
  • Understanding of lean tools and formal problem solving.
  • Detailed understanding of the processes in the area of responsibility.
