We are seeking to recruit a Hygiene Manager to manage and control all aspects of Night Shift/Day Shift hygiene operations within the Coated Factory, including changing facilities. The role is responsible for leading and managing the team(s) to achieve site hygiene standards against the profit and performance targets determined by the Site Factory Manager, and for driving continuous improvement to maximise operational effectiveness and efficiencies through the development of people, processes, and systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate at all times to the highest attainable safety standards, instil safety‑conscious attitudes and work methods into all staff, ensure all areas of responsibility are maintained safely, and use disciplinary action when necessary to enforce safe practices.
- Ensure scheduled cleaning tasks are completed to the appropriate site and customer standards.
- Manage, develop, and motivate the team(s) to ensure standards are met and exceeded.
- Maintain close liaison with Technical to improve site GMP hygiene standards.
- Maintain close liaison with the Engineering Manager to support the engineering department in improving site PPM.
- Drive continuous improvement to reduce non‑conformances and improve QSLs.
- Emphasise product integrity assurance at all times, focusing on correct procedures for prompt line start‑ups.
- Ensure KPIs are implemented for all external and internal service providers, constantly measuring performance and reviewing service levels as required.
- Ensure areas of responsibility operate at all times within the technical specifications required, with minimum use of labour and costs in terms of waste and chemical usage.
- Communicate effectively with direct reports through team briefings and other channels.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with direct reports to ensure continuous improvement, manage performance expectations, and maximise employee contributions; coach and mentor when appropriate.
- Deliver presentations with support from the Training Co‑ordinator as needed to improve GMP standards site‑wide.
- Participate in specific initiatives and project work both within the operation and across Pilgrims as a whole.
- Work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact related to processes and procedures within the area and across the wider business, e.g., waste reduction, recycling.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant chemical/food hygiene qualifications.
- Food manufacturing experience.
- Budget responsibility.
- Exposure to a variety of quality standards such as BRC and HACCP.
- Demonstrated experience of identifying and implementing appropriate change to deliver business improvement.
- Strong leadership skills and experience of managing.
- Commitment to safety for both people and products.
- Knowledge of labour and throughput controls and cost benefits.
- Strong decision‑making skills.
- Competent IT user.
- Willingness to undertake personal development training.
