We are looking for an experienced and driven HSE Manager to join our site leadership team within our Added Value Business Unit. This is a key leadership and advisory role, responsible for embedding a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental culture across the site.
You will champion our “Go for Zero” strategy—driving compliance, improving standards, and ensuring safety is a core condition of all operations.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a visible safety leader, promoting a safe and sustainable working environment.
- Provide expert HSE guidance across all site functions, empowering managers and teams.
- Collaborate with site leadership to align HSE strategy with wider business objectives.
- Drive compliance with internal standards, legal requirements, and best practices.
- Support the development and delivery of the site's HSE strategy.
- Cascade HSE goals and drive engagement through team forums and initiatives.
- Promote accountability and ownership of HSE standards across departments.
- Coach and develop teams to embed a proactive safety culture.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across operations, engineering, legal, and central HSE functions.
- Drive improvements in key HSE KPIs (e.g. DART rate, incident reduction, behavioural observations).
- Ensure full compliance with environmental permits, licences, and legal regulations.
- Lead audit and inspection programmes (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
- Oversee incident management processes, ensuring timely investigation and corrective actions.
- Ensure risk assessments are completed and aligned with company frameworks.
- Champion HSE systems, tools, and improvements across the site.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance safety performance.
- Use data and visual management tools to drive problem solving and performance improvements.
- Strong leadership and support across all HSE and facilities activities.
- Measurable improvements in safety culture and KPIs.
- Successful rollout and adoption of the Go for Zero strategy.
- Full compliance with HSE and environmental standards.
- Proven experience in an HSE role, ideally within an FMCG environment.
- Strong knowledge of HSE systems, compliance, and safety culture development.
- Experience managing audits and driving continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Natural coaching and leadership ability.
- Essential: NEBOSH General Certificate (Level 3) or equivalent experience.
- Desirable: IEMA Environmental Management Certificate.
- Desirable: NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
