Location: Grantham
We are currently recruiting a Multiskilled Engineer to provide technical support in the correction, prevention and elimination of technical problems for the site. To work with production during factory start up.
Responsibilities
- Responsible that the company Health, Safety, Environment and Hygiene policies are adhered to.
- Responsible for managing and closing out all equipment failures, work orders and PPM jobs.
- Responsible for data entry onto Holistech for all parts used & jobs raised & completed.
- Responsible for housekeeping of all workshop areas and ensuring that the department is audit ready at all times.
- Responsible for your own engineering hand back procedures.
- Ensure all work is carried out to specification and that food safety standards are met.
- Ensure that targets are met using the appropriate technical support in the correction, prevention and elimination of problems.
- Demonstrate a clear teamwork ethos with the Engineering department and across other departments.
- Excellent timekeeping, attendance and adherence to company procedures.
- Chooses the most appropriate method and tools for communication.
- Respond promptly and effectively to ensure quick resolution to any issues to minimize any downtime, quality and efficiency problems.
- Participate constructively as a member of the department, keeping everyone informed and proactively share your knowledge and expertise within the team.
- Understand and contribute using a range of risk assessment techniques in order to ensure safety of plant, equipment and people.
- Support a culture that enhances behavioural awareness of quality, safety and the environment.
- Demonstrate good behavioural and safety principles in all activities.
- Continually strive to reduce costs whilst ensuring production downtime is kept to a minimum.
- Be adaptable to any shift pattern that the company deems necessary for the business.
Essential Criteria
- A recognised qualification for mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Technical Hands-On Engineering Experience, preferably through recognised time-served apprenticeship within food manufacturing.
- Technical qualifications and competence in mechanical/electrical.
- BTEC Engineering certificate/equivalent qualification.
- Broad Knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Mechanical, Electrical & PLC/Inverter Assets.
- Skills and capability to logically diagnose and fault find on a variety of equipment/situations.
- Strong experience in ensuring safe working and safe systems of work is utilised and followed.
- Experience of risk assessing maintenance activity and controlling safe working practices.
- Experience of working on high hazard equipment & competent in undertaking safe isolation.
- Strong evidence of good interpersonal, communications and customer engagement skills.
- Specific experience of clarifying priorities to customers in a busy environment.
- Proven ability to get the best from a diverse team through a calm and clear approach.
- Ability to engage positively with production to ensure equipment release for maintenance.
Desirable Criteria
- Specific experience of Total Productive Maintenance or ‘Operator-Led’ Asset Care.
- Knowledge of Statutory Compliance obligations - particularly high-risk utilities topics.
- Knowledge and use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Ability to interrogate and program PLCs.
- Experience of working with OEM suppliers to drive improve machine performance /reduce costs.
- Knowledge of H.A.C.C.P. System.
- Proven track record of mentoring within an engineering team.
