Overview
To drive food safety and quality standards as part of the Technical Excellence agenda and lead the development of Quality Systems to ensure they meet the needs of the retailer customer and the site.
Key Accountabilities
- Safety is a condition: Build a culture of food safety within the area of responsibility. Promote positive behaviours, root cause issues and coach team members to understand food safety. Ensure that all team members have the appropriate training to do their required tasks in a safe manner. Drive safety improvements through behaviour-based safety observations.
- Technical Strategy: Develop technical excellence at all levels within operations, through a programme of training, coaching, and mentoring to enable high performance against Technical Standards. Support the activities defined within the Technical strategy, improvement in KPIs, and non-conformance root cause analysis. Have strong working knowledge of BRC audit requirements. Support the development of the Quality Management System and ensure it meets business requirements. Ensure the operational team has strong technical knowledge on GMP, allergen control, and quality system procedures.
- Build a high performing team: Build strong relationships with each team member. Train the team on OPEX tools, systems, and standards and ensure they have the correct resources and capability. Involve the team in priority problem-solving activities and promote a culture of learning and development. Communicate regularly and ensure goals and manufacturing targets are clear through team forums and MySuccess. Reward both successes and ideal behaviours. Address any performance issues promptly and discretely.
- OPEX Improvement: Collect and analyse data to understand metrics and identify areas for improvement. Ensure standard work is adhered to using audits and regular reviews. Provide support in root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes.
- Deliver value for the business and for the customer: Support site audits. Support and assist in projects in accordance with Technical team goals. Deliver the Quality agenda through the production teams, ensuring the customer receives the best quality product. Ensure compliance with Technical processes and systems (SAP/INNOVA/Foods Connected, etc). Ensure necessary training, coaching, and support for the systems team. Deliver and measure Technical KPIs and report central metrics on time.
Essential Criteria
- Proficient written, numerical, and verbal skills.
- Fluency in the English language (oral and written).
- Working knowledge of BRC and industry regulations within food manufacturing.
- Ability to record, interpret, and analyse key process data.
- Experience in Technical Standards.
Desirable Criteria
- Problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Proficient with MS Office tools.
- Understanding of lean tools and formal problem solving.
- Detailed understanding of the processes in the area of responsibility.
- HACCP & Food Hygiene level 3.
- Degree/Diploma in Food Safety/Technology or equivalent subject.
