The role of Despatch Operative is to assemble orders for customers for delivery within the required schedule and carry out all duties relating to the efficient and effective running of the allocated work area to meet the Section's objectives in line with the overall Company goals and objectives.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Order pick according to customer requirements
- Scanning of product from intake to loading
- Palletise orders for relevant customers
- Complete all necessary paperwork accurately
- Assist with loading of orders to lorries
- Liaise with all other relevant functions to ensure the smooth running of the department
- General housekeeping
- Be health and safety conscious taking all necessary actions to maintain a safe working environment
- Work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within their area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc.
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
Essential:
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- The ability to use one's own initiative and remain consistently focused on a particular task
- The ability to work as part of a team and in an individual role for often extended periods of time
- Speak, read & write English
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a Despatch Operation
- Previous experience of working in a FMCG firm
