The Vacancy Maintenance Manager Carn Hatchery Mon-Thurs 8am-16:30 Fri 8am-15:30 On-Call Rota Required Lead Maintenance Excellence in a Critical Food Production Environment We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance function within our hatchery operation. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all incubation equipment, automated handling systems and site services. Reporting to the Hatchery Manager, you will manage a team of Maintenance Engineers, oversee preventative maintenance activities, drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure statutory compliance across the site. What You'll Be Doing Lead and develop the site maintenance team, providing coaching, training and support. Manage the maintenance strategy to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime. Oversee preventative maintenance programmes using a CMMS system. Ensure all incubators, ancillary equipment and alarm systems are fully operational and maintained to the highest standards. Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory and contractor expenditure. Lead capital projects including installation and commissioning of new equipment. Monitor site energy consumption and identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction. Ensure full compliance with health, safety and statutory legislation. Manage third-party contractors, including inductions, RAMS approval and Permit to Work controls. Maintain accurate maintenance records, compliance documentation and asset histories. Participate in an on-call rota providing support during evenings and weekends. What We're Looking For Essential Level 3 Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification. Previous leadership or management experience within a maintenance environment. Strong people management and team development skills. Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities. Full UK driving licence. Experience managing preventative maintenance programmes and equipment reliability. Desirable Previous hatchery maintenance experience. Experience using CMMS systems. Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements and contractor management. Project management experience, including machinery installation and commissioning. Experience monitoring energy performance and driving efficiency improvements.
