Are you passionate about poultry production and looking to take the next step in your agricultural career? We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Broiler Assistant Farm Manager to support the successful operation of a modern broiler farm on the North Coast of Northern Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with poultry or farming experience who is eager to develop their management skills, work in a hands-on environment, and play a key role in delivering the highest standards of bird welfare, quality, and farm performance.
The Role
As Broiler Assistant Farm Manager, you will work closely with the Farm Manager to maximise farm performance and ensure broiler stock is produced to the highest possible standards. You will assist in all aspects of farm management and be prepared to deputise for the Farm Manager when required.
This is a varied role offering significant responsibility, development opportunities, and exposure to all areas of broiler farm management.
This role is a 5 from 7 shift pattern, with a sixth day as required by the needs of the business, covering 48 hours a week.
A driving licence is essential, however a company van would be provided subject to licence checks
Key Responsibilities
Support the Farm Manager in the day-to-day management of the broiler farm.
Monitor bird performance to ensure targets are achieved for weight, quality, welfare, and health.
Manage and monitor ventilation, heating, feed, water, and lighting systems to provide the best possible environment for bird growth and wellbeing.
Provide relief cover for Farm Managers as required across the business.
Develop a thorough understanding of individual farm operations and wider business activities.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to bird performance, feed, stock, and supplies.
Ensure adequate levels of essential supplies are maintained and support stock ordering processes.
Complete and submit weekly returns and operational reports.
Transport birds to veterinary services when required and assist with deliveries between farms.
Assist with the supervision, training, and development of farm staff where applicable.
Deputise for the Farm Manager during periods of absence, including responding to alarms and emergency call-outs.
Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping, cleanliness, and biosecurity across the farm.
Ensure bird welfare remains the highest priority at all times.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual who enjoys working in a practical environment and takes pride in delivering high standards.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Previous experience within poultry, agriculture, or a related farming environment.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Strong people and communication skills.
Previous supervisory experience.
Sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Computer literacy and confidence using farm management systems.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
A willingness to learn and develop within a progressive agricultural business.
