We are currently recruiting for Despatch Team Leaders to join our team at Pilgrim's Europe - Craigavon.
JOB PURPOSE: To ensure that the despatch department operates as efficiently and as cost effectively as possible while also ensuring that quality, hygiene, health & safety, delivery on time, and general housekeeping conforms to all current SOPs. In addition, they must manage each member of their team using the Moy Park shared values and competency framework. They will work closely with the Shift Manager to deliver the despatching operation and will stand in and cover the Shift Manager in their absence.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Health & Safety
- Understand the Pilgrims Europe Health & Safety Policy, Company Safety Rules and Statutory requirements applying to all operations within the specified line of responsibility.
- Previous experience of achievement in continuous improvement.
- Ability to demonstrate a previous experience of delivering sustainable change initiatives and results.
- Deliver on agreed H&S KPIs for your Section.
- Ensure that all near misses and accidents are reported and investigated within appropriate time frames.
- Take reasonable care for Health and Safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your actions.
- To be responsible for driving Health and Safety in your area of responsibility including compliance, reporting, investigation, improvement, training etc.
- Work in a safe manner and observe the Company Health and Safety Rules and Procedures.
- Co-operate with Managers and other personnel of the Company to achieve a healthy and safe workplace environment.
Technical
- Ensure that all products meet or exceed the agreed customer specification and quality standards.
- Assist in the co-ordination of external customer visits and internal audits.
- Full accountability for technical KPIs ensuring that the company targets are achieved and appropriate actions to resolve issues.
Production performance and KPIs
- Optimise despatch efficiencies, namely CPC, quality, DOT, labour utilisation, packaging and utilities to ensure all departmental KPIs achieved-Despatching, financial, technical and warehousing.
- Review all departmental KPIs periodically, to ensure they are capturing key measurable for the function.
- Optimise labour utilisation by reducing non-attendance, labour turnover and suitable holiday planning.
Environmental
- Optimise energy usage, looking at opportunities for energy reduction and carbon footprint reduction.
- To work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within their area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc.
People
- Develop, train, coach and motivate operatives, ensuring that all departmental training and the associated training matrix for your Section is up to date and accurate at all times.
- Complete Team members appraisals and provide feedback on their performance on a regular basis.
- Develop a culture where employee engagement and communication are promoted within your team, achieved through ensuring sufficient representation from your team at the daily huddles, that weekly team briefs are in place and by implementing any other associated initiative.
Continuous Improvement
- Assist in evaluating, utilising, deployment and embedment of a range of continuous improvement and lean techniques to deliver best in class operational excellence which can be measured through the financial performance of the factory and in line with Profit Improvement Plans (PIP).
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience of working within a fast-moving chilled goods warehouse and distribution operation.
- Experience of working with Warehouse Management Systems.
- Good Interpersonal & communication skills.
- Good organisational skills.
- Proven track record of performance against targets.
- Computer Literate.
- Decision making to show customer at the forefront.
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous people management experience i.e. managing a team through effective use of performance reviews, coaching, training and disciplinary procedures as required.
- Relevant management experience.
- Proven Leadership skills.
