The Canteen Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the canteen. This includes planning menus, ordering supplies, preparing and serving food, and managing staff. The Canteen Manager will also manage budgets, enforce health and safety regulations, and provide customer service. The ideal candidate should have strong organisational and communication skills, as well as experience in the food service industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Ordering of stock including raising/receipting PO’s on SAP
- End of day/week/month accounts
- Continuously review menus
- Preparing and cooking of food
- Continuously review processes/procedures including compliance documentation to ensure we are compliant with legislation
- Lead onsite events such as summer BBQ and staff Christmas dinner
- Work with suppliers to minimise spend on stock whilst ensuring quality menu offering
- Identify ways to maximise footfall i.e. theme days
- Participate in on-site engagement activities and charity fundraising
- Stock taking and product rotation
- Serving of food and beverages
- Collect monies and operate cash till
- Responsible for cashing up at the end of the shift
- Cleaning of kitchen equipment, worktops, tables and floors
- Opening/closing canteen and the start/end of shift
- Report faults so they can be put right quickly to avoid downtime and potential loss of stock
- New menu ideas including buffet options
- Buffets/refreshments for on-site meetings
- Comply with company health and safety standards at all times and ensure work areas are kept clean and tidy
- Comply with food hygiene standards at all times
- Comply with all COSHH and HACCP guidelines
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
- Keeps up to date with relevant legislation affecting staff catering facilities
- Previous management experience
- Previous experience running canteen kitchen
- Good verbal, written and numerical skills
- Well organised
- A team player
- Self-motivated
- Friendly individual with focus on customer service
- Good PC skills
