At Pilgrim’s Europe, our people really do make the difference. We are looking for an ambitious and detail-focused Assistant Accountant to join our Agri Poultry GB Finance team at Anwick. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your management accounting experience within a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment while working closely with operational teams across site.
As an integral member of the finance team, you will support the Site Accountant and Finance Manager in delivering high‑quality financial reporting, insight and control that drives informed decision‑making across the business.
The RoleThis position plays a key role in supporting the delivery of accurate and timely weekly and monthly management accounts, ensuring financial integrity and helping the site achieve strong commercial performance.
- Support preparation of weekly and monthly management accounts
- Take ownership of sections of the P&L, reporting variances against Forecast and Budget
- Manage elements of the Balance Sheet, completing month‑end reconciliations
- Report KPIs and operational costing data
- Analyse weekly costs, usage and pricing at farm level and provide feedback to operations
- Support capital additions and maintain the asset register
- Assist with overhead reporting and cost control processes
- Work collaboratively with the Site Accountant and wider finance team, providing cover where required
- Continuously review processes to remove non‑value‑adding activities
- Meet strict reporting deadlines for weekly accounts and financial submissions
- Part‑qualified (AAT/relevant degree) or qualified by experience with strong technical knowledge
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical ability and excellent attention to detail
- Experience preparing weekly accounts (desirable)
- Experience in variance analysis
- Exposure to food manufacturing finance (desirable)
- Organised, articulate and confident communicating financial information
