Pilgrim\’s Europe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Area Manager to join our Broiler team, based in Ashbourne Derbyshire. The successful candidate(s) will provide overall responsibility for the production of Broiler Farm chickens through supporting Farm Managers and Relief Farm Managers to ensure targets are met and all procedures and standards upheld. Pro-active communication with relevant stakeholders to ensure optimum and efficient performance of each flock is a must. Reporting to the Regional Broiler Manager, responsibilities will include overseeing all aspects of husbandry, ensuring all stock produced is of the highest possible standard and meets the required specification in terms of weight, quality, health & safety, welfare, etc. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, and will be a sound decision maker, who can work autonomously. Ideally you will have strong people management skills as your role will involve people management and in conjunction with the Agri HR team you will ensure best practice for all people matters. Alongside this you will be able to coordinate the work of other individuals to ensure the continuous working of each farm. You will manage, motivate and control the activities of staff through a positive communicative management style. The successful candidate will have a full understanding of poultry and ‘live’ Welfare as a Condition in all that they do. Simultaneously, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow and development via our bespoke Agriculture Academy. ‘Growing our own’ agriculture specialists and leaders of the future is something that is extremely important. This role requires travelling across the Broiler Farm estate so a full drivers licence is a must. There will be an expectation to provide on-call support for allocated farms within your specific areas and assist in this for other farms to cover holidays/absence.
