About Oakhouse Foods
Oakhouse Foods provides high-quality frozen meals to older consumers, the care sector and the NHS. Our mission is to deliver great-tasting, nutritious food with outstanding service — making life easier and better for our customers. Digital is a critical part of how Oakhouse Foods will grow and serve customers in the future. As a lower-cost, scalable channel, e-commerce sits at the heart of our long-term service and growth strategy.
The Role
We are looking for a commercially driven E-Commerce Manager to lead and accelerate profitable online growth for Oakhouse Foods. Currently, around 40% of new customers place their first order online, but only 20% continue shopping via the website, with many moving to telephone ordering. This role is pivotal in changing that behaviour, by improving the online experience, removing barriers and building loyalty through smart, insight-led digital strategy. You will own the end-to-end online customer journey, from acquisition through to repeat purchase and retention, ensuring the Oakhouse Foods website becomes the preferred shopping channel for both new and existing customers.
Working cross-functionally with Marketing, Customer Experience, Operations, IT and our Franchise Network, you will deliver clear commercial impact by increasing conversion, repeat purchase and lifetime value.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver e-commerce revenue performance
- Optimise the Oakhouse Foods website to maximise conversion, average order value and repeat purchase
- Continuously improve the customer journey, from landing page through to checkout
- Manage and challenge the external web agency, ensuring strong commercial and technical outcomes
- Work closely with IT to deliver secure, scalable and well-integrated improvements
- Use analytics to identify funnel drop-offs and prioritise actionable improvements
- Manage on-site content, merchandising and product placement aligned to seasonal priorities
- Ensure accuracy of pricing, promotions and content with robust checks before and after campaigns
- Maintain a structured content and release calendar aligned with marketing activity
- Ensure the website reflects Oakhouse Foods' brand, tone of voice and service promise
- Develop and deliver an A/B testing roadmap to drive continuous growth
- Own SEO strategy and execution, including on-page optimisation and site structure
- Coordinate technical SEO improvements with external partners
- Oversee high-quality content creation that balances brand voice and search performance
- Develop and deliver a digital retention strategy to keep customers ordering online
- Identify and remove barriers for older consumers re-ordering digitally
- Partner with Customer Experience and CRM teams to build effective lifecycle journeys
- Design and launch a subscription model to support recurring revenue
- Drive personalisation, loyalty and advocacy aligned to Oakhouse's HEART service culture
- Own overall e-commerce revenue targets and budget
- Deliver weekly and monthly performance reporting
- Track and analyse key metrics including traffic, conversion, AOV and repeat rate
- Work closely with the Customer Retention Manager to reduce migration to phone orders
- Stay ahead of e-commerce trends, competitor activity and accessibility best practice
Key Deliverables
- Increase the proportion of customers shopping online
- Deliver an improved website experience aligned to the Oakhouse brand
- Achieve e-commerce revenue, conversion, AOV and repeat purchase targets
- Successfully launch and embed a subscription model
What We're Looking For
- Experience in an e-commerce role with proven sales growth (essential)
- Experience managing or optimising e-commerce platforms (Magento, Shopify or similar)
- Strong understanding of SEO, UX and conversion optimisation
- Commercial mindset with confidence using data to drive decisions
- Hands-on, execution-focused approach
- Strong collaborator with excellent communication skills
- Experience in CRM journeys, retention marketing or subscription models
Ideal Behaviours
- Ownership: Takes accountability for outcomes and performance
- Determination: Persistent in driving improvement and growth
- Simplicity: Focuses on what matters most and executes clearly
