We have exciting opportunities for Abattoir Team Leader to join us at our Westerleigh site!
Shift Pattern: – Monday to Friday, 40hrs p/w, 4 x 10hrs shift pattern
The role of Abattoir Team Leader forms part of the Abattoir Departmental Management Team of shared responsibility for production and technical / specification performance of the Abattoir team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Allocation of work to employees in the Abattoir Department/inclusive of job rotation
- Report and resolve machine issues quickly, advising the Engineering Department of work requirements
- Ensure product is produced within specification
- Assist with any audits that are carried out in the department – e.g. customer visits
- Work closely with the training department to ensure the abattoir is up to date with all training requirements
- Carry out routine inspection of your area and any equipment in your charge and report any maintenance requirements, deficiencies or recommendations for improvements
- Carry out audits as required to monitor staff adherence to hygiene policies – e.g. hand washing, PPE and clothing is worn correctly
- Take responsibility for the investigation and reporting on corrective actions within the Department
- Cover for the absence of the Abattoir Manager as and when required
- The job holder has a responsibility to create a culture of awareness of, and commitment to the highest standards of quality & food safety and as such they must lead by example
Skills and Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of the department and relevant regulations applicable from both internal and external sources
- Experience of working within a food manufacturer and in a fast-past environment
- Knowledge of products, processes and procedures within relevant area
- Knowledge of all relevant H&S procedures and requirements
Qualifications (essential):
- Food Safety Level 2
- Recognised qualification/certificate of competence in meat processing (e.g. NVQ)
