We are currently seeking a Poultry Inspection Assistant to join our team at Pilgrim's Europe- MoyPark, Dungannon. This is an important role responsible for identifying and ensuring that any unfit meat is removed from the slaughter line. You will work under the supervision of the Official Veterinarian to carry out post mortem checks and help maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Work Pattern:

Working hours are: 06.00am to 18.00pm, rotational, as a part of the Process 1, Team B.
Week 1: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat, Sun
Week 2: Wed, Thurs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and remove unfit birds/meat from the slaughter line.
  • Ensure all birds/meat carrying disease are removed to safeguard consumer health.
  • Monitor hygiene standards within the slaughter operation.
  • Prevent contamination and ensure dressing is hygienic.
  • Record disease levels in flocks and provide information to assist in improving biosecurity.
  • Monitor welfare by identifying injuries or abnormalities and ensuring birds are reared, caught and transported humanely.
  • Uphold food safety, integrity, legality and quality at all times.
  • Carry out process control, trimming, and slaughter duties as required.
  • Perform any other duties relevant to the role.

  • Work safely and follow Company Health & Safety Procedures.
  • Use protective clothing and equipment provided.
  • Report all hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Cooperate with management to maintain a safe, healthy working environment.
  • Take reasonable care of your own safety and that of others.
