Pilgrim Primary Academy, Reach South Academy Trust, is seeking to appoint talented and experienced Permanent Teaching Assistants for September 2026.

Location: Pilgrim Primary Academy, Oxford Street, Plymouth PL1 5BQ

Salary Range: Teaching Assistant - Grade C 5-7, £25,583 to £26,403 per annum pro-rata

Actual Salary: £17,844 to £18,415

Hours/Contract: 29 hours per week, term-time only, 39 weeks per year. Monday to Friday

The Role: Pilgrim Primary Academy is looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed Teaching Assistants to join our inclusive teaching team. The ideal candidates will be hard working, friendly and outgoing and have relevant experience of working in a school setting, specifically in KS2 classrooms. You will have a passion for supporting young children’s learning and development and enjoy working as part of a team. Please state your experience clearly in your application.

The Person: This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated and well organised individual. We are looking for someone who has the following experience and qualities:

  • Have at least Level 2 Teaching Assistant and/or Level 2 Early Years Qualification (or equivalent to these)
  • Be empathetic towards young people and seek to understand each child’s unique context and support behaviour accordingly, using positive relationships as your foundation
  • Have effective communication skills with both children and adults and sound functional skills (reading, writing, numerate and good spoken English)
  • Be eager to work collaboratively in a wider team, adaptable and open to new ideas and practices
  • Be a fast and highly flexible thinker, able to deal with change and unpredictability positively with a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Be committed to fully inclusive practices and understand the importance of meeting the needs of the whole child
  • Experience of working with SEN children preferable
