About the Employer

PIL Membranes design, manufacture and test unique polymer membranes for the clothing, electronic, military, and medical markets.

Specialise in water vapour transmission products with a range of applications such as leather‑effect membranes for children’s school shoes; technical and industrial clothing (including anti‑static, viral barrier, fire‑ and chemical‑retardant garments); and sports and leisure footwear and apparel.

  • What You’ll Do
  • Work alongside experienced engineers to learn electrical and mechanical maintenance techniques.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist with fault finding, diagnosis, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Learn how to safely use engineering tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
  • Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of machinery and equipment.
  • Develop an understanding of PLCs, motors, sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
  • Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete apprenticeship coursework.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Build the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to achieve the Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician apprenticeship standard.
