Position Summary

The RN is responsible for overseeing nursing services during the assigned shift, ensuring residents receive high‑quality, compassionate care in accordance with individualized care plans, physician orders, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Working under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON) and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), the RN provides clinical leadership, supports nursing staff, and promotes a safe, positive environment for residents and team members.

Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

  • Supervise and support nursing staff throughout the assigned shift.
  • Deliver quality resident care in accordance with individualized care plans and clinical standards.
  • Assess residents and respond promptly to changes in condition.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Complete incident reports and clinical documentation accurately and on time.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.

Nursing Operations

  • Support daily nursing department operations.
  • Help implement nursing policies and best practices.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory and facility standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance and survey readiness activities.
  • Collaborate with rehabilitation, dietary, social services, and other departments to provide comprehensive resident care.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely nursing documentation.
  • Protect resident confidentiality and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Report resident safety concerns and compliance issues promptly.
  • Promote adherence to facility policies and professional nursing standards.

Team Collaboration

  • Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
  • Mentor and support fellow nursing staff.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and team‑oriented work environment.

Qualifications

  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Skilled nursing, sub‑acute, or long‑term care experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
