Your Day To Day
You'll provide assistance in caring for our residents by aiding them with their activities of daily living. You'll work under supervision of our nursing staff to ensure compliance with current state, federal, and local standards.
General Purpose
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors.
Essential Duties
- Use the wristband or photo card file to identify residents before administering treatments, serving meals, etc., as necessary.
- Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
- Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative, descriptive manner.
- Report all accidents and incidents you observe on the shift that they occur.
- Agree not to disclose resident’s protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator.
- Perform only those nursing care procedures that you have been trained to do.
- Greet residents and escort them to their room.
- Make resident comfortable.
- Assist residents with packing their personal possessions when they are being transferred to a new room, or when being discharged.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
- Check residents routinely to ensure that their personal care needs are being met.
- Assist residents with identifying food arrangements.
- Record the resident’s food/fluid intake.
- Keep residents’ water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water.
- Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty.
- Assist residents with daily functions (dental and mouth care, bath functions, combing of hair, dressing and undressing as necessary).
- Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent decubitus ulcers (bedsores).
- Honor the resident’s refusal of treatment request.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of the state. CPR certification preferred.
Physical Demands
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand; walk and talk, read or hear.
