Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Band 6 Locum Speech Therapist to join our dynamic team in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated therapist to work within an acute setting, focusing on adult patients with acquired speech and language disorders.
You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and providing appropriate interventions to individuals who have experienced acquired speech issues, including those caused by stroke, head injury, and other neurological conditions. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to these patients in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for adults with acquired speech, language, and swallowing difficulties
- Provide therapeutic interventions in line with individual care plans
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and other therapists, to deliver integrated care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Support and educate patients and their families regarding speech and language management
- Provide clinical supervision to junior team members (if applicable)
Requirements:
- HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist
- Experience in working with adults with acquired speech and language disorders (e.g., post-stroke, brain injury)
- Strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to work autonomously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
