Pier (UK) Ltd is a national vacuum excavation and equipment hire business operating from nationwide. We supply suction excavators, operators and hire equipment to utilities, civils and infrastructure.

The Role

We're looking for a Transport Planner to join our hire desk operations team. You'll plan the daily movement of vehicles, operators and equipment across the depot network to keep our clients working and our fleet earning. You'll be the point of contact between our sales team and operators, building the day-to-day plan and reacting when it changes.

What you'll be doing:

  • Planning and scheduling daily/weekly job allocation for vehicles, operators and hire equipment
  • Coordinating machine movements between depots and customer sites, including subcontract haulage where required
  • Liaising with customers on site access, timings, and changes to program
  • Reacting to breakdowns, cancellations and short-notice demand, and re-planning accordingly
  • Maintaining accurate records on our planning and hire systems

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in transport planning, scheduling, or resource allocation — plant hire, or haulage background preferred
  • Confident communicator who can hold their own with operators, depot teams, and customers
  • Organised under pressure, comfortable when the plan changes at the last minute
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and planning/hire software
