Are you an experienced Azure Engineer who enjoys being the go-to expert for cloud infrastructure, while still remaining hands-on with engineering, troubleshooting and delivery?
We are working with a prestigious global professional services organisation looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join its established infrastructure team as the subject matter expert for Cloud. This is a predominantly remote position, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the cloud environment while working alongside experienced infrastructure specialists across a global organisation.
What's on offer:
- £90,000 - £110,000 salary
- Predominantly remote working
- Opportunity to become the team's Cloud SME
- Exposure to a large, global technology environment
- High level of ownership and technical autonomy
- Opportunity to lead and contribute to major infrastructure projects
- International exposure, including travel to New York
- London attendance limited to induction, occasional company events and other business requirements
The role:
You will join an eight-person team where each engineer acts as the subject matter expert for a particular infrastructure technology area, such as Storage, IAM or Mail. You will take ownership of Cloud, with a particular focus on Microsoft Azure.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the technical SME for cloud infrastructure
- Leading and delivering infrastructure and cloud projects
- Managing and supporting Azure deployments
- Engineering, installing and configuring infrastructure solutions
- Troubleshooting complex technical issues
- Handling escalated support tickets and operational issues
- Developing scripts and automation using technologies such as PowerShell
- Supporting infrastructure across a global environment
- Working closely with other infrastructure SMEs
- Providing out-of-hours support when business-critical issues require it
We're looking for someone with:
- Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure experience
- Proven experience deploying and supporting Azure environments
- Strong systems and infrastructure engineering knowledge
- Scripting and automation experience, ideally PowerShell
- Experience working within a global or multi-region organisation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience leading or taking technical ownership of infrastructure projects
- The flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours incidents
- The ability and willingness to travel to New York approximately twice per year
Formal cloud certifications are not essential. Practical experience, technical depth and the ability to take ownership are far more important. You'll suit this role if you are collaborative, technically curious and comfortable being the person others turn to for cloud expertise. You should be equally happy leading a project, investigating a difficult technical issue or getting hands-on with an installation or configuration.
