The role:

Reporting to the Director of Innovation & AI, you will lead the day-to-day operation of the Lawtech function while helping shape the organisation’s wider innovation, AI, knowledge and data strategy. You will:

  • Lead, coach and develop Managers and other members of the Lawtech team
  • Drive innovation, transformation and continuous improvement across the organisation
  • Champion the adoption of AI and legal technology
  • Translate strategic objectives into practical, scalable delivery
  • Build strong relationships with Partners, lawyers, business teams and clients
  • Oversee a portfolio of innovation, AI and legal technology initiatives
  • Develop effective change management and adoption strategies
  • Establish frameworks for requirements gathering, business cases, solution design and delivery governance
  • Work closely with IT, Knowledge, Data, Risk and Compliance teams
  • Oversee technology assessments, pilots, proof-of-concepts and vendor relationships
  • Help measure adoption, value and ROI from innovation investments
  • Support AI-enabled solutions involving technologies such as Harvey, Claude, Microsoft Copilot and Azure AI Foundry
  • Develop a culture where innovation and continuous improvement become part of everyday working

About you:

You will have significant experience leading innovation, transformation, legal technology or change within a law firm, professional services business or similarly complex organisation. You should bring:

  • Strong people leadership and team development experience
  • Experience influencing senior executives and Partners
  • A track record of delivering strategic transformation and change
  • Strong knowledge of AI and its application within professional services
  • Experience implementing technology adoption and change programmes
  • Understanding of project, programme and portfolio management
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • The ability to translate complex technology into clear business outcomes
  • A proactive, collaborative and pragmatic leadership style
