We have built our reputation on safety, quality, technical capability and long‑term client relationships.
Due to continued development within the business, we are now looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our estimating team.
The Role
This is a dedicated electrical estimating role, focused purely on the estimating function and everything that supports it. The successful candidate will take over the day‑to‑day electrical estimating responsibilities currently carried out by our Electrical Estimating Manager, who is moving into a more senior Commercial position within the business. You will work under the direction and control of the Commercial / Estimating Manager, with your focus being to produce accurate, competitive and well‑prepared electrical estimates for a variety of projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator who enjoys the technical detail of pricing electrical work, wants to be part of a stable and respected business, and is looking for a long‑term role with clear support from senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications and employer’s requirements.
- Preparing accurate electrical estimates for projects across a range of sectors.
- Carrying out material, labour and subcontractor take‑offs.
- Sending supplier and subcontractor enquiries and reviewing returned quotations.
- Building up competitive and commercially sound tender submissions.
- Identifying risks, exclusions, clarifications and assumptions within tender documents.
- Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, consultants and internal teams where required.
- Working closely with the Commercial / Estimating Manager throughout the tender process.
- Supporting tender adjudication and handover meetings.
- Maintaining estimating records, cost data and tender files.
- Assisting with value engineering options where appropriate.
- Ensuring estimates are prepared accurately, consistently and in line with company procedures.
About You
We are looking for someone who has strong electrical estimating experience and is comfortable working with technical tender information. You may already be working as an Electrical Estimator, Senior Electrical Estimator, M&E Estimator or Electrical Project Engineer with strong estimating experience. The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience estimating electrical installation works.
- A good understanding of electrical building services, power, lighting, containment, distribution, controls and associated systems.
- Experience working from drawings, specifications and schedules.
- The ability to produce detailed, accurate and well‑structured estimates.
- Strong commercial awareness, while being comfortable working under senior commercial direction.
- Good communication skills with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Good IT skills, including Excel and estimating software.
- The ability to manage deadlines and work on multiple tender opportunities.
- Experience in industrial, rail, water, pharmaceutical, chemical or other types of highly regulated environments would be advantageous.
What We Are Looking For
This role would suit someone who enjoys estimating and wants to concentrate on producing high‑quality tender submissions. You will be joining a business with a strong reputation, a long‑term stable workforce and a proven track record of developing people internally. We are looking for someone who wants to become a valued long‑term member of the team and contribute to the continued growth of the business.
What We Offer
- Annual salary between £50,000 and £60,000.
- Company bonus scheme.
- Private medical benefit.
- Holiday entitlement.
- Support from an experienced Commercial / Estimating Manager.
- Opportunity to work on varied and technically interesting projects.
- Stable, well‑established company with a strong pipeline of work.
- Professional, supportive working environment.
