We are currently seeking hardworking and dedicated individuals to join our team as Abattoir Operatives, to work in Hortonwood, Telford, in Shropshire.
As an Abattoir Operative you will play a vital role in the processing of meat products, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards throughout the production process. Working from 7am, Monday to Friday, this role requires flexibility and a willingness to work additional hours when required to meet customer demand in the preparation of a fresh product.
Our ideal Abattoir Operative will be a reliable team player with excellent attention to detail, who is keen to learn and develop new skills.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working in an active slaughterhouse with the use of knives and other equipment.
- Carry out all activities and roles within the abattoir in line with individual training matrix including rodding, legging, flanking, etc.
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve production targets and meet customer demand.
- Undertaking manual handling tasks, using equipment or machinery when required.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality, HSE, animal welfare, food safety, hygiene, ethical, product labelling and handling processes.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a slaughterhouse or meat processing facility preferred but not essential, as training is fully provided.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
- Willingness to handle and work with animal carcasses.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
- We also welcome applications from candidates who have knife handling experience in other roles (not necessarily a butchery environment) who wish to start a career in the Meat Processing Industry.
