Pickles Recruitment are hiring! We are seeking an organised, proactive, and detail-driven Materials Stock Controller to play a vital role in maintaining the seamless flow of materials and components within our manufacturing operations. Acting as the crucial link between the shop floor and our suppliers, this position ensures that production has everything it needs to run without delays. You’ll work closely with directors, production teams, and external suppliers to forecast needs, manage inventory levels, and prevent stock shortages or overstocking. Your work will directly impact our productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor stock levels, ensuring materials are available in line with production schedules.
  • Liaise daily with production teams to understand stock usage and requirements.
  • Communicate with suppliers to place orders, chase deliveries, and resolve supply issues.
  • Work alongside directors to support planning, budgeting, and strategic stock decisions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using stock control systems (manual or software-based).
  • Carry out regular stock checks and reconciliations.
  • Identify slow-moving or obsolete stock and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate deliveries and goods-in processes to ensure timely supply to production lines.
  • Troubleshoot stock discrepancies and implement continuous improvements in stock handling.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in stock control, inventory management, or supply chain within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong communication skills – able to effectively liaise with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Proficiency with inventory or ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of manufacturing workflows and material planning.

Working Hours:

  • 6:30am – 3pm
  • Monday – Friday

Hourly Rate:

£12.25 to start
